  10. Thank you for your interest in While Your Were Out and Caliente 
  11. International.  Our name says it all:  We're HOT!  To prove it, you're about
  12. to install the While You Were Out 3.1 for Windows NT, the office messaging 
  13. system.

  15. Inspired by the universal telephone message note, you already know how to
  16. use WYWO.  Installed on Windows NT, users can send and receive messages which
  17. look just like their familiar phone messages.  They're password protected and 
  18. encrypted for privacy.  WYWO notifies you of new messages.  Messages are 
  19. organized into New and Old message lists.  Once read, new messages are 
  20. automatically saved to the old message list.  The contents of a message can be 
  21. saved either to a printer, file, or the clipboard for pasting into another 
  22. Windows NT application.  WYWO has extensive on-line help.

  27. While You Were Out 3.2 Highlights:

  29.      WYWO 3.2 introduces an exciting new feature called Caller Lookup.  
  30.      This feature anticipates caller data and automatically fills in the
  31.      appropriate caller info (From, Company and Telephone) as you type.
  32.      Previous caller phone books are maintained for each WYWO user.
  33.  
  34.      WYWO can import an ASCII text file containing a list of new user names 
  35.      instead of having to add to each new user one at a time to WYWO.  When
  36.      adding new users in WSETUP.EXE, click the Import button to select the
  37.      text file to import.
  38.  
  39.      To liven things up a bit, we added a WYWO Notification sound event, 
  40.      WYWO.WAV, for Windows 3.1 sound drivers.  Now when you receive a 
  41.      message, you will hear a phone ringing.  Use any sound you like as 
  42.      long as its in the file WYWO.WAV.

  109. Server Installation and Running the WSETUP32.EXE program
  110. ------------------------------------------------------
  111.  
  112. WSETUP32.EXE is the administration program for WYWO.  It is used 
  113. to set up all of the user names, user groups and message types for the WYWO 
  114. system.  It is also used for clearing user's passwords should they forget 
  115. them.  WSETUP32 creates two files called WYWO.DAT and WMSGTYPE.DAT in the 
  116. directory dedicated for the WYWO system.  With WSETUP32, you will be able to 
  117. add, modify or delete users, groups and message types that are in the 
  118. WYWO.DAT and WMSGTYPE.DAT files of the WYWO directory.  To toggle between 
  119. User Name and Message Type modes click on the User Names button or the 
  120. Message Types button.  
  121.  
  122. To add a user, click on the New button and fill in the name of the new user.
  123. Click on OK to enter the name into the system.  You can modify the user's 
  124. name or clear the user's password by either clicking on the Modify button 
  125. after clicking on the user to be modified, or just double-click on the user 
  126. name itself.  You can then change the user's name or clear the user's 
  127. password.  To delete a user, select the users name and click on the Delete 
  128. button.  Click on the Save button when all users have been added, or click 
  129. on Cancel to ignore any new changes.

  131. Once users are defined, you can organize them into logical groups to 
  132. represent departments, floors, workgroups, etc.  Groups are identified in 
  133. the user name list by square brackets, ex:  [Everyone].  By default all 
  134. users belong to the Everyone Group, allowing users to send and receive 
  135. messages to everyone installed in WYWO.  Users have the option of setting a 
  136. default user group by clicking the Options button in WYWO on their 
  137. workstations.

  139. Message Types can be added, modified, and deleted in the same manner as the 
  140. User Names.  You are now ready to run WYWO.

  143. Running the WYWO32.EXE program
  144. ---------------------------------------------------------
  145.  
  146. The first time each user runs WYWO, they must identify themselves to 
  147. WYWO by selecting their name as the default user.  The next time Windows 
  148. starts, WYWO will automatically be loaded and appear as pink message 
  149. icon on the Windows Desktop.  Also WYWO automatically monitor incoming 
  150. messages for the default user.

  153. WYWO32.EXE is the main WYWO program for sending and retrieving WYWO messages.
  154. Once the WYWO sheet is on the screen you are ready to send and receive
  155. telephone messages.  
  156.  
  157. To activate WYWO, simply double click the WYWO icon either on the Windows NT
  158. desktop or Program Manager.  The WYWO icon looks like a pink While You Were 
  159. Out sheet.
  160.  
  161. With version 3.1, WYWO utilizes both mouse buttons.  The left button 
  162. operates as it normally would in any Windows application.  It selects 
  163. things:  buttons, fields, etc.  Clicking the right mouse button will pop-up 
  164. a menu displaying functionality associated certain objects within a WYWO 
  165. window.  
  166.  
  167. For example, click the right button over the To field when reading a 
  168. message and WYWO will display the Forward menu.  Select Forward item with 
  169. the left button, WYWO allows you to select the name of another person to 
  170. send the message.  Hit the Enter key and the message is sent.
  171.  
  172. Likewise, click the WYWO sheet itself, a menu with functions associated with
  173. an entire message is displayed.
  174.  
  175. By clicking the Help button, you can get help on using any of WYWO's 
  176. functions.  This is the on-line manual.  
  177.  
  178. By clicking the Options button, you can customize WYWO operation on each
  179. workstaion.
  180.  
  181.     Default user:  The person normally using a particular workstation.
  182.  
  183.     Default user group:  Group the default user will normally send and 
  184.                              receive messages.
  185.  
  186.     New message notification time:  How often WYWO will search for new
  187.                                         message or not at all.
  188.  
  189.         Notification window handling:  When notified of new messages, should
  190.                                        the user be required to respond to
  191.                                        the notification dialog window or let 
  192.                                        the window stay in the background.
  193.  
  194.     Message save options:  When saving a message to the printer, file, 
  195.                                or clipboard, save the message field 
  196.                                identifiers such as To, From, Date, etc. with 
  197.                                the message or not.

  199. If you would like WYWO to be loaded each time you run windows so it always
  200. checks for incoming messages, add WYWO32.EXE to the Load= line of the 
  201. WIN.INI file or place the WYWO icon in Program Manager's Startup Group.

  203. To specify a specific default username when running WYWO, pass the name
  204. on the command line for the WYWO icon or from the Program Manager.  This 
  205. name will override the default user name specified in the Options screen.

  208. Running the WMONIT32.EXE Program
  209. --------------------------------
  210.  
  211. WMONIT32.EXE acts as a system message rack/message board similar to the 
  212. message racks used on many secretaries desks.  It is great for those users 
  213. with or without a network that want to monitor all new WYWO messages that 
  214. come in at a central location.  WMONIT32 will check for all new messages in 
  215. the system at 30-second intervals and display the names of users with new 
  216. messages.  The users can then read their messages from WMONIT32 by 
  217. double-clicking on their name or selecting their name and clicking the 
  218. Read Messages button.  WMONIT32 can be used in two modes: One for displaying 
  219. new message names as a message board whick will show the number of new 
  220. messages as small WYWO sheets following the users name, or by displaying a 
  221. message rack with a picture of the number of WYWO sheets sitting in their 
  222. message "slot".

  224. WMONIT32 will only display users who belong to the group specified in the 
  225. Options screen of WYWO installed on the same workstation.  To monitor other 
  226. groups, simply access WYWO and click the Options button to select another 
  227. default group.

  229. IMPORTANT NOTE:
  230.  
  231. WMONIT32 only allows messages to be viewed.  Messages can only be deleted
  232. or modified when accessed directly by the WYWO32.EXE program.  Also, any 
  233. new messages viewed through WMONIT32 will remain as new messages when later
  234. accessed by the WYWO program.
